The Liverpool and District Table Tennis League is one of the oldest Leagues in the country, being formed in 1926, and remains one of the largest Leagues in Lancashire and Cheshire. The League has over two hundred members, comprising of fifty six teams in four divisions all competing on a weekly basis throughout the winter months.

Liverpool City representative players are amongst the best in the region and both Mens and Ladies 1st teams have held the Lancashire and Cheshire champions title for the last four years in succession.

In addition to the general league and cup matches, the League also runs an annual 'Closed' tournament towards the end of the season.

The City of Liverpool Grand Prix Open tournament was resurrected some years ago as part of the ETTA Grand Prix series and is now an annual event, also the City of Liverpool 3 Star Junior Tournament was held for the first time in December, 1998. Both of these tournaments have been well attended and it is thanks to a small team of dedicated volunteers that Liverpool table tennis is once more back on the "TT Map".
